A Girl's Dream
This is a story about a girl who dreamed an impossible dream.
Everyday she dreamed harder than the last. Always wished, always hoped.
She was just a normal girl, nothing special. She loved to read though. She read her school books, she read her emails, she read long and short books, and she even read her share of manga. What she couldn’t read were other people, boys especially.
Every morning she awoke to the sun’s light shinning through her window. She walked across the room and went straight toward the stairs. As she stood there at the very top, she looked over at the front door and dreamed of someone there waiting for her.
No one ever was.
She continued down the stairs and into the kitchen where she dreamed of someone sitting at the table for her.
There never was.
After breakfast she goes outside to get the newspaper and dreamed of someone walking toward her.
No one ever was.
She would walk back inside and grab her swim suit and change for a quick swim. She walked out back and dived in. She would turn toward the screen by the side walk and dreamed of someone watching her.
There never was.
As she came back in and changed, she decided to go for a drive. She went to her car and opened the door and took one last look behind her and dreamed of someone wanting to go with her.
No one ever was.
After a long drive she returned home tired and went to bed. She went to school the next day. She walked from class to class not saying much. After school she saw her friends gathered together in the library talking. She saw them all paired up in a little group of two. She sat in her seat and glanced at the empty seat beside her and dreamed that someone was there smiling at her.
There never was.
She gave her best smile she could muster and went on her way. She needed something to do for a while, where she could pass the time, so she went to the mall. She walked around giving her best effort to look nice. She dreamed of someone to walk hand in hand with.
No one ever did.
She sighed as she walked and called it a day and went to bed.
This is where her dreams were true and there was always someone there, waiting, sitting, walking, watching, wanting, smiling, holding her hand, and most of all, loving. As the next day approached and the sun began to creep through her window, she decided to sleep a little longer. And sleep she did. She slept longer than anyone else had before. But she was happy.
Days later, they pronounced her dead. As they put her in the ambulance, they noticed her sweet, innocent smile still on her face. People began to gather to see who she was. Soon after the ambulance drove off, leaving the people behind to stare. One boy in particular in this small crowd, who admired her from afar, ran off to his house and regretted not telling her his feelings. As he went to bed, he began to dream.
He began to dream dreams no one has ever before.
